Spring Break Road Trip: San Diego to Brian Head, Utah (with a Vegas Detour)
This spring break, we packed up the car and hit the road from San Diego to the mountains of Utah—swapping beach towels for snow gear and building the kind of memories only a good road trip can bring.
What to Do
Vegas Stopover
Walk the Bellagio fountains, especially at night
Visit the Hello Kitty Café – perfect for kids, cute enough for your feed
Pop into Nectar Life – a boutique filled with handmade soaps and aesthetic gifting vibes
In Brian Head
Snow play for the kids right outside your condo
Ski or snowboard at Brian Head Resort
Snow tubing and sledding – low effort, big fun
Enjoy the scenic alpine views with zero agenda
On the Way Back
Stop at the Bass Pro Shop in Las Vegas (near Silverton Casino)
Grab a sit-down meal next door at Cracker Barrel – quick, cozy, and perfect with kids
What to Bring
Snow gear for the whole family, see what to wear below + a few links for shopping ease!
Groceries for your stay – we stocked up in St. George on the way
Entertainment for the drive: iPads, downloaded movies, sticker books, and car snacks
Travel coffee mugs and reusable water bottles
Sleds or rent on site
Packing cubes to keep outfits organized by activity
🍳 What to Eat
Bellagio: Grab & go breakfast sandwiches from the café near the pool
Cracker Barrel: Chicken tenders + biscuits = happy kids and happy parents
In Condo:
Easy pasta dinner
Breakfast burritos (prepped ahead or store-bought)
Snacks: trail mix, hot cocoa, apple slices, popcorn
What to Wear
In Vegas:
Comfy travel set (think Alo Yoga or Abercrombie SoftAF)
Kids in layers for changing weather
In Brian Head:
La Costa Kids for my local san diegans
This Free People Bib set was amazing, fit perfectly, easy to get in and out, plus easy in n out pocket access for my phone to take quick shots of the kids skiing
This Free People base layer set - top and bottom - are literal musts. Thin and comfortable, but still the perfect amount of warmth. Also, it's currently over 50% off on sale.
Also love the look of this onesie base layer, on sale on Revolve.
This was a random purchase but ended up loving, and the kids kept stealing - a cute metalling fur lined snow hat. Crowd pleaser for kids so may be worth buying a couple for them. Love the various metallic colors offered.
Cute but functional snow boots are a must - these Moon boots are are my fave right now and on sale.
An Apres Ski sweater or sweatshirt
Puffy coats & beanies
Après-ski loungewear for inside the condo
On the Road:
Easy slip-on shoes
Blanket hoodie or oversized crewneck
Sunglasses + SPF lip balm
Final Edit
Spring break doesn’t need a plane ticket. A little planning, a good playlist, and a mix of snow + Vegas sparkle made this road trip one for the books.
